Ayman Matta, MD
Ophthalmologist Ayman Matta, MD, specializes in cataract and glaucoma treatment, refractive surgery, corneal transplants, medical and laser retina surgery, including LASIK, PRK, PTK, AK, and lens exchange therapy. He is Director of the New York Eye Institute in Middletown, NY, and on staff at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Nyack Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital (Suffern, NY), Surgicare Center of Mahwah (NJ), St. Mary's Eye and Surgery Center (Palisades Park, NJ), and Hackensack (NJ) University Medical Center. A recognized expert in laser surgery, Dr. Matta has been certified in GLORY LASIK by the International Society of Refractive Surgery and in C-LASIK by Bausch & Lomb, and has a certification in the VISX Excimer Laser System. He is also trained in several micro-keratomes.
Dr. Matta completed medical school and his internship at Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, and his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, and at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, at the Nassau University Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in anterior segment and cornea and refraction at the Bucci Cataract and Laser Vision Institute in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Matta is Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American College of Physicians, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and New York Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Matta is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
