Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Charles W. Episalla specializes in reconstructive surgery including trauma and joint replacement, sports medicine, hand surgery as well as adult and pediatric orthopaedics at Hudson Valley Ambulatory Surgery. Dr. Episalla is highly regarded in his field, also serving as the Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Catskill Regional Medical Center of Sullivan County for the past 20 years, the current Team Physician for Sullivan County Community College Athletic programs for the last 16 years, and Police Surgeon for the New York State Police and Monticello PBA. Dr. Episalla founded Catskill Orange Orthopaedics, PC in 1993 and is the Managing Senior Partner & Director of the group.
Dr. Episalla was awarded his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science degrees from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, where he also completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopaedics surgery through Westchester Medical Center, Metropolitan Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering and St. Vincent’s Hospital. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago where he was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors. He currently serves as the President Elect of New York Medical College’s Board of Governors, actively involved in medical student education and promoting the academic and economic growth of the University. Dr. Episalla is Board Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Additional memberships include the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Medical Societies of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Dr. Episalla maintains current licenses to practice medicine in the states of New York, Florida and Hawaii.
Dr. Episalla was recently named as one of “America’s Top Orthopaedists” by The Leading Physicians of the World for consecutive years 2011 and 2012.
