Otolaryngologist and sleep specialist Ofer Jacobowitz, MD, PhD is a Governing Board Member at Hudson Valley Ambulatory Surgery, LLC. He is an expert in the advanced medical and surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, and is among a small number of ear, nose, and throat surgeons nationwide who specialize in sleep disorders. Procedures offered by Dr. Jacobowitz include expansion sphincter pharyngoplasty, palatal advancement pharyngoplasty, Coblation partial glossectomy, and DISE (drug-induced sleep endoscopy) performed to locate and focus treatment on problematic areas in the throat. Dr. Jacobowitz also specializes in nasal surgeries for obstruction, balloon sinuplasty and advanced endoscopic sinus surgeries. He also performs conventional and minimally-invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, and pediatric tonsils and ear surgery. He practices at ENT & Allergy Associates in Middletown, NY and serves as Associate Director of the Center for Sleep Medicine at Orange Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Jacobowitz graduated with his medical degree and PhD in pharmacology from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his postgraduate training in otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Jacobowitz is an assistant professor at Columbia/New York Presbyterian and attending physician at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr Jacobowitz is Board certified in sleep medicine and in otolaryngology - head and neck surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. An active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Jacobowitz directs courses in sleep apnea at the academy and is a member of its committees on sleep disorders and medical drugs and devices. He has numerous publications in medical and surgical journals and is a national and international speaker. Dr. Jacobowitz is a member of the Orange County Medical Society, where he has served on several committees, including the executive committee.
